The capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, used to be located in the province of Buenos Aires, but due to hostility and fighting in the 19th century, the city of Buenos Aires was granted autonomy, and is now located within its own administrative area known as Ciudad Autonoma de Buenos Aires, which translates to "Autonomous City of Buenos Aires".
The flag of the region/city was chosen in 1995, and consists of the crest of Buenos Aires that was created by Juan de Garay in 1580.
