Andrea Cau is an Italian vertebrate paleontologist. He currently works with the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences describing new theropods from China, Mongolia, and the United States.
He obtained his Master's degree in 2003 from the Università degli Studi di Parma, and his PhD in 2017 from the Università di Bologna, both in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Through his work, he has travelled across Italy, Belgium, Brazil, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
He has helped describe at least 23 new species, including the semi-aquatic theropod Halszkaraptor escuilliei in 2017.
