Karen Moreno is a Chilean paleontologist specialising in bone structure analysis and the study of fossilized footprints.
She was born and raised in Chile, and attended universities in Chile, the United States, and the United Kingdom. She has worked at universities in Australia and France, and is currently a professor of the Paleontology program at the Austral University of Chile.
While studying at the Austral University of Chile, she was encouraged by her professor, Mario Pino, to continue her studies abroad, as Chile didn't have a Paleontology program. Starting in 2014, Karen and her former professor Mario, along with Ana Maria AbarzĂșa and Sven Nielsen started a Masters Paleontology program at Austral University, the first program of its kind in Chile.
Karen Moreno was part of the team that discovered and described Ekrixinatosaurus novasi.
