Hussam Zaher is a paleontologist specialising in the evolution of snakes.
He obtained his Bachelors degree from Faculdade de Humanidades Pedro in Rio de Janeiro in 1989, his Masters from the Université Paris VII - Pierre et Marie Curie in 1990, and his PhD from the Muséum National D'Histoire Naturelle in Paris in 1994.
He is the curator of the Herpetology and Paleontology collections, and supervises in the Graduate Programs at the Universidade de São Paulo's Museu de Zoologia in Brazil.
