Linwood is a city located in the South of the American state of New Jersey, near the larger Atlantic City.
Linwood was originally a borough (like a town) in 1889, and became a city in 1931.
Linwood was originally called Leedsville, but another Leedsville already existed in New Jersey. At the insistence of the United States Postal Service, it changed its name to Linwood by choice of the local residents in 1881.
